Delta Air Lines Inc. is a major US airline, one of the four founding companies of the SkyTeam airline passenger alliance. It is the only airline in the world operating on all continents except Antarctica. It is the largest air carrier in terms of fleet size, passenger volume and number of destinations. It was founded on May 30, 1924 under the name Huff Daland Dusters and sprayed insect chemicals over agricultural fields.In 1928, the name was changed to Delta Air Service and changed to via passenger transportation.The company begins to buy air carriers and use their rights to routes.Northeast Airlines bought it in 1972 and then began using Boeing 727.
