CVS Health is one of the largest American medical companies, a manufacturer and supplier of medicines and consumer products. The company owns the CVS Pharmacy pharmacy chain and 9,800 retail outlets. It was created in 1963 as a network of beauty and health goods stores, but for several years pharmacies were added there, and was part of The Melville Corporation until 1996, when it became an independent and public company, starting trading in NYSE under the CVS ticker, and People's Drug, Prescription Health Services and PharmaCare were acquired in the 1990s. 1999 CVS Rev Soma.com was the first online pharmacy to acquire Soma.com, merged with Caremark Rx in 2007 and was renamed CVS Caremark. In 2014 it was renamed again as CVS Health, and in 2017 it merged with health insurance giant Aetna. The deal amounted to 77 billion dollars.
