Colgate-Palmolive is an international holding, one of the most famous manufacturers of household products: toothpaste, soap, shampoos, shower gel, deodorants and animal feed. It was founded in 1806 when Smith and Colgate opened a small shop selling starch, soap and candles. The current name, Colgate-Palmolive Company, has been used since 1953. It was the first manufacturer and supplier of toothpaste in the world. In 1927, it merged with Palmolive, thus becoming a real giant of this industry in the international market. By 1940, the company's profit reached $ 100 million. In 1947, the company released very popular products: Fab washing powder and Ajax detergent, and in 1976 began producing pet food. In 1992, the company began operating in Eastern Europe and China.                                      

The company is also known as a manufacturer of radio and television series, so the term "soap opera" appeared.
