It was founded in 1916 for airplane and hydroplane manufacture, during the war it shifted to military equipment and cargo planes. Then it finally takes part in space equipment manufacture. In 1997 the company absorbs its main competitor — Douglas Aircraft Company which automatically helped the company to climb to the top of aviation market. Today The Boeing Company is one of the 2 biggest passenger plane manufacturers, the second one is Airbus.
