Ford Motor is an American automaker, one of the largest and most profitable automakers in history, the fourth largest in the world in sales. Included in the Fortune 500 and Global 500.
The company was founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903. In the early years of its existence, the company produced a number of cars, including the Ford Model A, Model K Model S and the very popular Model T. In 1913, Ford Motor introduced a revolutionary way to produce auto parts - the conveyor. In 1904, a representative office in Canada was founded. In 1907, the brand opened a representative office in Russia, which operated until 1917. Assembly plants were opened in Ireland, later in England and France, and then in Denmark, Germany, Austria and Argentina, South Africa and Australia. In 1922, Ford Motor became the owner of the Lincoln brand.
In 1955, the iconic Thunderbird was introduced. In 1964, another legendary car was released - Ford Mustang. In 1985, during the fuel crisis in the United States, Ford Motor released another hit - the Taurus car, and the next year it bought the famous Aston Martin car brand. In 1990, the Jaguar brand was bought for $ 2.5 billion, and in 2000, Land Rover for $ 2.73 billion. Ford Motor also acquired a stake in Kia Motors Corporation and Mazda Motor Corporation.
